Why are natural therapies like nutritional therapy and bodywork therapy beneficial for our pets?

The number of dogs and cats who are suffering from poor health is increasing. They are most commonly suffering from allergies, digestive disorders, bladder disease, obesity diabetes, diseases of the liver, kidney, heart and cancer.

Many of these health conditions may be caused by poor nutrition.

Some of these diseases are similar to the ones we suffer from. And it is not surprising, considering the polluted world we live in and the abundance of processed food commonly included in our and our pets' diets. On top of that, our pets are commonly treated with chemical-based medications at the first sign of disease or as a way to control parasites.

The food our pets eat, and the environment they live in, can cause them to suffer from toxic overload, which can make them sicker.

With qualifications in small animal nutrition, herbal medicine, myofunctional (massage) therapy, companion animal naturopathy and reiki, I can help you provide your cat or dog with solutions that:

  • provide optimum nutrition and treatment protocols to improve your pet's health; and

  • don't result in negative side effects.

If your cat or dog is suffering from disease, I can assist them in the healing process by stimulating their natural inherent ability to heal.

If your cat or dog appears healthy, I can help you ensure that he or she stays that way, naturally.

My approach takes into account the whole animal, rather than focussing specifically on a medical condition. This approach complements conventional veterinary treatment and a veterinary diagnosis of a medical condition is always beneficial.

I have witnessed incredible improvements in the health of both dogs and cats through a combination of simple dietary changes and natural remedies - the power of nature truly is amazing!

As a believer and user of natural therapies for my own health, it makes perfect sense to me that our four-legged animal friends can similarly benefit from natural therapies.  What this approach looks like is a natural, whole-food diet with quality natural food-based supplementation and a clean and safe environment and lifestyle.

I bet this makes sense to you too, right?

Nutritional Therapy

Please note, I am not a veterinarian and therefore I am not able to diagnose a health condition. It is important if your furry companion is suffering from a health condition, that you obtain a veterinary diagnosis. I can then help your cat or dog heal holistically using complementary therapies and by treating the whole animal.

  • Have you just adopted a new cat or dog and you're after some guidance on the best food to feed him?
  • Is your cat or dog in her golden years and you'd like to know what additional nutritional support you can provide?
  • Do you want to ensure your cat or dog is eating a diet that reduces his risk of disease?
  • Or perhaps your cat or dog is suffering from illness or disease like a skin condition, digestive issues, allergies or urinary tract condition?

Nutrition is vital in ensuring general wellbeing for your cat or dog.  Unfortunately, the majority of commercial pet food today is not healthy. It is believed to be responsible for many of the most common diseases suffered by pets today, for example, diabetes, obesity, cancer, heart disease and digestive complaints.

As a qualified and experienced animal nutritionist and animal naturopath, I can help you formulate a diet that is going to provide your pet with all the nutrients they need to achieve optimum wellness - whether a pup or a kitten, a golden oldie, an unwell dog or cat or one who appears to be healthy.

I use a naturopathic, holistic approach that means treating the animal from a whole body perspective. When an animal is unwell, the body is out of balance. Working in a holistic or naturopathic way means supporting the animal's body to achieve balance and to heal using the body's natural or inherent healing abilities. A state of whole body wellness can be achieved, and when the body is brought back into balance, certain conditions can naturally be resolved.

I offer a number of in person and online programs tailored to suit your pet's individual needs and circumstances (priced from $129). I can also tailor a program just for you.

With each program, you will receive a consult plus a treatment plan that includes diet and supplement recommendations. Other inclusions may consist of follow up consults, email/phone support, customised meal plan, recipes and VIP bonuses.

I also offer plant based diet programs for dogs. Find out more here.

Bodywork Therapy

Bodywork Therapy for cats and dogs incorporates remedial massage and stretches to improve balance, functioning and range of movement as well as Reiki, a Japanese form of intuitive energy healing.  Bodywork Therapy can improve a cat or dog’s general fitness, behaviour, emotional stability, comfort level and overall health.

Remedial massage provides a wide array of benefits for dogs and cats of any breed, age and activity level, including improved immunity, reduced anxiety, greater flexibility, improved nutrient supply and more. It can be especially beneficial for dogs or cats who suffer from arthritis or hip dysplasia.

Reiki can provide support for your animal (cat, dog, horse etc) to return balance to the body, helping the body to naturally heal from disease, ease pain, to cope with fear and stress, alleviate or prevent side effects from medication and is beneficial for proactive wellness. By helping your animal relax, Reiki helps to unlock the natural healing abilities of your pet's body.

Animals can respond really well to Reiki as their connection to energy is so much greater than ours.

Reiki is also available:

  • as a standalone treatment, and

  • in a combined session where I treat both you and your cat, dog or horse with Reiki.

I am a qualified Reiki II practitioner and I provide Reiki to animals and humans through single treatments and my signature offering, Reiki For You & Your Fur Baby.

Reiki is a Japanese form of intuitive energy healing that helps to unlock the natural healing ability of animals (both human and non-human). It does this by helping the mind and body relax, which then allows for a rebalance of systems within the body and then, ultimately, that is when the healing begins.

In a Reiki session, the practitioner channels the universal life force healing Reiki energy and passes that energy to the patient through various hand placements along or above the body. After a Reiki session, the patient may feel lighter, more relaxed and happier. With the shifting of energy within the body, one might also feel an increased range of movement.

Animals can respond really well to Reiki as their connection to energy is so much greater than ours.

I started offering Reiki For You & Your Fur Baby sessions because it is believed that our pets may feel in their body what we are feeling in ours. This may occur because of the powerful empathetic bond that cats, dogs, horses etc share with us. This bond creates a health connection between us and our pets.

Often if a pet is suffering from a health condition, the person they share the strongest bond with, can present with the same or similar condition. And so, if your pet is suffering from a health condition, it's vital that you work on your own healing, not just that of your pet's.

A Reiki For You & Your Fur Baby session is a must have if you're experiencing any health issues and you want to help protect your pet from feeling the same.

In these sessions, I treat you first and then I treat your cat or dog, horse or other pet. I will channel Reiki healing energy to help you manage stress, anxiety, grief, depression, painful conditions, life challenges, spiritual challenges, illness and so much more. I will then channel Reiki healing energy to help your fur baby to rebalance the body, thereby assisting in management of whatever disturbance they are suffering from, whether that is stress, anxiety, immune disturbance, painful conditions, grief, digestive issues and so on.
