Dogs & Cats

Species-appropriate nutrition, simplified.

A comprehensive, step-by-step guide to feeding your pet fresh, balanced, whole foods — with confidence.

Feeding your pet real food shouldn’t feel overwhelming.

If you’ve ever wondered:

🐾 What’s actually in commercial pet food - and is it really healthy for your pet?
🐾 How do I transition safely?
🐾 How to create balanced meals without guesswork?

🐾 Whether homemade diets can truly meet nutritional needs?

These Guides were created for you.

Grounded in Clinical Experience. Designed for Real Life.

There’s no shortage of information about feeding pets online.
But much of it leaves pet parents overwhelmed, confused, or unsure what to trust.

These guides are different.

They are grounded in over a decade of clinical experience working with dogs and cats — supporting everything from digestive disorders and skin conditions to immune challenges and long-term vitality.

Inside, you won’t find rigid, one-size-fits-all meal plans or vague recommendations.

Instead You'll Find:
  • Clear explanations of what constitutes a balanced, species-appropriate diet

  • Flexible approaches to balance — per meal or over time

  • Practical transition plans tailored to real households

  • Complete, AAFCO-compliant recipe structures explained simply and transparently

  • Tools and templates that remove guesswork without removing flexibility

This is not a trend-based approach to feeding.

It is biology-informed, experience-backed guidance designed to help you feed with confidence — knowing nutritional adequacy has been thoughtfully addressed.

Created by a Practising Animal Naturopath & Nutritionist

I’m Ruth Hatten — animal naturopath, pet nutritionist, and herbalist.

Since 2015, I’ve supported hundreds of pet parents in transitioning their animals to nutrient-dense, whole-food diets that support digestion, skin health, immunity, energy, and long-term resilience.

Through my clinical work, I’ve seen firsthand how profoundly diet shapes an animal’s vitality.

But I’ve also seen how confusing the process can feel.

How much do you feed?
Is it balanced?
Are essential nutrient requirements being met?
Is it safe long term?

These guides were created to answer those questions clearly and comprehensively — without overwhelm.

They reflect both:

  • The evolutionary needs of dogs and cats

  • And recognised nutritional standards, including AAFCO-aligned formulation principles

So you’re not just feeding real food —
you’re feeding it responsibly and intelligently.

What Pet Parents Are Saying:

"I checked it out straight away and ended up reading it all. What a great resource!" - Liz Hill

"He’s loving that meal [Easy Batch Recipe] and it’s super easy to make and I”m just so impressed that he’s getting so much more nutrients than what i was probably giving him before." - Jayne McIntyre

"He had his first ‘deliciousness’ meal last night and to say he loved it would be an understatement! He NEVER comes into the kitchen when I am cooking - we don’t allow him to ‘beg’ for food, feed him from the table or our plate, or hang around whilst people are eating so he’s never really taken an interest in what happens in there - but he was clearly too excited when I was prepping!" - Kymberlee Senior
